Project 1

In this project I will learn to:

  • Place raster images into an Illustrator file to use as drawing templates.
  • Create and manage simple shapes and lines.
  • Using various tools and panels to transform objects' color position, and shape.
  • Cloning objects to minimize repetitive tasks.
  • Use layers to organize and manage complex artwork.
  • Draw complex shapes by combining simple shapes.

Read and work through the project in the Against the Clock book. You will use the sample files provided by Against the Clock.

The Source Files

You can download the Project 1 files here.

The project files are also stored on the server in the graphics labs, AVA-Disciplines/GRDSN/Against_the_Clock. Against the Clock provides the files on their website. If you work outside the lab, files can be downloaded by following the instructions on the inside back cover of the book. If you are checking out books from the Library the online code may not work, so be sure to save files from our lab server.

You may find it convenient to copy the files onto your personal storage area.

The Exercises

Build the image as directed in the project. As a final personal touch, draw a freehand shape in the upper right-hand rectangle. This can be anything you want (and it can be ugly).
