Adobe Photoshop I, GRDSN 158
In this project I will learn to:
- Work with color-managed files.
- Define working color spaces.
- Building an accurate page grid using guides.
- Creating and formatting type layers.
- Manage point and area type.
- Convert type to a shape.
- Working with layer styles and opacity.
HOW TO PROCEED
Read and work through the project in the Against the Clock book. You will use the sample files provided by Against the Clock.
The project files are stored on the server in the graphics labs, AVA-Disciplines/GRDSN/Against_the_Clock. Against the Clock provides the files on their website. If you work outside the lab, files can be downloaded by following the instructions on the inside back cover of the book. If you are checking out books from the Library the online code may not work, so be sure to save files from our lab server.
You may find it convenient to copy the files onto your personal storage area.
Changes to the menus!
Adobe is moving some features in the newest updates to Photoshop. Filters such as the Tilt-Shift blur filter may be found in the new Blur Gallery item on the menu.
Complete the exercises for the City Promotion Cards project..
Make these two variations from the book instructions:
When you print each of your final city promotion cards,, select Adobe PDF as your printer. You will not print to paper; just create a PDF to attach to the Canvas turn-in.
There may be giant PDF problems
The set up for Adobe PDF can vary from machine to machine, so if you have trouble printing to PDF, or saving to PFD; create the pdf by Saving As to the PDF format. This path will give you an option for PDF presets; select High Quality Print.
If you are using a Windows PC that does not have a PDF printer, or a Mac, you can also create your PDF using the Save As and choose Adobe PDF as the format.
What to turn in
Make a copy of your final print-out in the PDF format, see above instructions. Rename these copies 158-4a-yourname.pdf and 158-4b-yourname.pdf.
Attach this file to your Canvas turn-in area for this project.
Take the quiz
Go to the Assignments section in Canvas and take the project quiz. You are allowed to retake the quizzes only twice. You might review and print the quiz before starting the project and locate the answers as you work.
You are done with the third project!
