What cool stuff do the students do?

General consensus has always been that the maple FB is a little brighter sounding than RW. Personally I can't tell any difference. I have 2 Cali series strats of the same year, same hardware, setup exactly alike. One RW, One Mpl, they sound exactly the same to me.

An H2 subhead as a second-level head

If there is a difference that I can discern it would be that the RW has a more abrasive surface. That is to say, the MPL is a little more slick to the touch. This can be either good or bad depending on the player. I love the way the maple looks, but consider the RW board to be slightly more responsive to my fingertips, and an ebony board, even more responsive... but that's another story. There, now that should clear up everything

The H4 is smaller yet
