Do I need a portfolio to enter the program?
No. This is currently not a requirement.
Are there any prerequisites to the program?
Students need to take the reading assessment test given to all students when applying to SFCC and achieve a score of 40 or above. Also, it is helpful if you have basic PC or Mac computer skills.
How well does the program prepare students?
Averaged over ten years... the program has a student placement rate of 87%
What type of computer do I need?
Our advisory board recommends that students learn to design on Apple Computers with an OSX operating system. This is an industry standard. The Graphic Design lab has approximately 60 computers available for student usage.
Will my courses transfer to a four year institution?
All of the general university requirements will transfer. The Graphic Design program has an articulation agreement in place between SFCC and Whitworth College and Evergreen College. This agreement allows students with the A.A.S. degree to transfer credits directly. New! EWU / SFCC Transfer Track Contact an Instructor for additional information and to determine the best pathway for transferring.
What if I already have a B.A., can I substitute courses?
If you already have a Bachelors Degree or have completed courses at a University or College some courses may be eligible for substitution. You will need to fill out the Course Substitution Form, attach a copy of your transcript and submit it to the faculty for review.
