Exercise: Gesture

Scenario: In order to make effective thumbnails, graphic designers learn how to do gesture and contour drawing. First of all, read Chapter 2 in your text book "Learning to See: Gesture and Other Beginning Line Exercises." You will need your sketchbook to do Project 1, Gestural LIne Drawings, p. 49 and Project 3, Blind Contour Drawings, p. 49. Use a variety of tools (pencils and pens) and two different subject matters for each project. Label the projects One or Three and title them to fit the subject matter. Make sure that you do not lift the drawing tool off the paper unless absolutely necessary. Practice drawing with your eyes looking intently at the subject matter. When finished, submit your sketchbook to the instructor. These are due one week from today.Instructions: Select a score for each outcome below based on the following scale:
