GRDSN 115: Color Cutouts

Scenario:

You are a graphic designer working for a graphic design firm. You have been asked to make an illustration that imitates Matisse for an arts magazine cover. Research Matisse and his color cutouts before beginning the project. The subject matter is of your own choosing. The entire project is listed in your textbook, p. 175, Project 1, Using the Computer to Create Matisse Cutouts. This project will be executed on the computer since the shapes are simple and you know it will be easy to apply and instantly change the colors. See plate 7.1 and 7.16 in your textbook for examples. The imagery will be biomorphic or abstract.Try several ideas watching what happens to the color when you change it. Print your piece on a high quality color printer to keep the color as true as possible. Mount it on black mat board with a 2" margin and an overlap of tissue.
