Where do you live and work?
My name is Alexandra V. Bach, 27 years old, heading from France. I am a digital artist and graphic designer. Since September 2006, I have started working freelance with my own company Ravendusk Design www.ravendusk.com

When did you begin your art?
As a child, my passions were drawing and painting : I was a very lonely child and I could spent hours in my room painting and drawing fairies and mermaids. But it's only in late 2003 that I began to create digital artworks, first of a very macabre nature. At that time, as a complete newcomer, I joined Deviantart, the famous artistic online community. There, I received a lot of feedback and pieces of advice, which led me to go on doing artworks and improve in the more significant way. After more than one year of digital creation, my style evolved. Leaving aside the horrific imagery of my beginnings, I turned myself to a more delicate, achieved and feminine vision of the beauty in darkness, depicting dark and always elegant beauties into a special world of my own.

What mediums do you use?
Basically my painting software and a graphic tablet : I use a Canon reflex camera for shooting my models. My medium is called photomanipulation, so I use many basic pictures, I postwork them and create something brand new.

Who are your artistic influences?
I have many artistic influences, I can say that I am always open to new artistic discoveries and I have a real passion for art, this is part of my life. I would say that I have been influenced a lot by the pre raphaelite painters such as Millais and Waterhouse, I am also very fond of the work of Gustav Klimt. His painting "The Expectation' is for me a constant source of visual delight. I am also very admirative of Joachim Luetke's digital art and photography.

What inspires you?
Basically my own experiences. I can say now that almost all of my images do reflect me at a certain moment of my life : what I live, what I believe in, my obsessions (the passing of time, solitude, and decay) are always depicted in my images in a way or another. I want to share my visions with people, and I appreciate when they get their meaning and say 'I know how you feel and you wanted to mean within that image' Maybe doing artworks is a way to communicate with people, since I'm a very lonely person. I am also inspired by everything dark in literature, painting, music, lifestyle, movies...I would say that music is my main source of inspiration, and this, since I began doing photomanipulations. Especially gothic and metal songs, for I listen a lot to this style of music. I am also deeply influenced by the imagery conveyed by the movies, especially if they are dark and romantic, or sometimes horrific. Generally speaking, I am attracted by the beautiful side of darkness, which I try to depict in my images. I can say that it is something very natural for me.

Where have you sold your work?
I have an online shop, where I sell my artworks as prints, but I also sell them thanks to Deviantart (http://wishmistress.deviantart.com/store). I have also been asked to sell my images on The Prints of Darkness website and also on Imagekind.com

Feel free to promote any current projects, or products such as your 2007 calendar.
Right now I have just released my calendar for 2007. I try to focus now on working more with my own photographs, to create even more personal artwork and imagery. I want my artworks to be as original and intimate as possible. I would like also to do more collaborations with bands for cd art, which is something always very pleasing to do. I will have my first art exhibition in Paris on February, 18th,
