GRDSN 236: Multimedia Technology II

Project: Medical Interactive Piece

Scenario:

A pediatric physician would like you to create an interactive piece that would be placed on his computer for his patients and their parents to discover how certain parts of the body work. The piece needs to look fun and animated so the children will be entertained while they are learning about something that may be a frightening subject. Colors and sounds should also be appropriate and it must be very easy to interactively use. You will be designing something for one body part/organ and may choose what that part may be.

Cranial Structure

Primary tasks:

A. Research body parts that would be easy to animate and be understandable to children and their parents.

B. Create thumbnails of ideas and a hierarchy of information to show the interactivity of the presentation.

C. Use the software program effectively to make the piece.

D. Turn in your file to your instructor on time to show to the client.

Objectives:

A. Create an interactive presentation which is clearly and easily understandable to the users.

B. Use animation, colors and sounds that would be appropriate to children and their parents.

C. Create a piece that teaches something about a body part/organ

E. Complete the interactive piece within the stated time parameters.

Grading Criteria:

The final project will be assessed on:

1. Self and instructor assessments

  • The student was able to identify weaknesses
  • The student identified steps for improvement

2. The quality of the solution and execution

  • The student completed the assigned competency listing
  • The student presented a professionally designed piece on or before the stated deadline
