Prerequisites:

Course Description:

This intermediate level course further prepares the student to design for three dimensional animation for internet pages, video and multimedia programs, video games and entertainment. Students will model more complex objects, use their own texture maps, add multiple lights and cameras, and render animations of scenes that are created exclusively on the computer. An emphasis will be placed upon using available tools to promote ambiance for the scenes created.

Activities

Activities include lecture/discussions, lab time, and presentations of video tapes and CD Roms. Students research subject matter and have oral critiques. Information will be placed on a variety of storage devices for presentation.

Grading

This is a course that requires a lot of thinking. Attendance is crucial to its understanding and grades will be affected if more than two classes are missed. There will be an emphasis on meeting deadlines.

Grading is based on moving control of learning from the "instructor" to the "learner."

This competency based educational approach considers "time" a variable and "mastery" a constant.

On any given project the student will receive either a "3.0" which indicates adequate completion of the criteria and competency list.

If the student does not meet these industry standards they will receive an "I" for incomplete which means the student needs more time to achieve mastery. Mastery levels are determined by industry entry level requirements.

To obtain a "4.0" student must exceed expectations in either work ethic, artistic ability, production skills, writing skills, computer skills, people skills or idea development.
