Project: Portfolio of 3D student work

Scenario:

A local company has a need for a three dimensional designer/ modeler to fill a position that will be coming up soon.You have researched the firm noticing that they produce very creative work in print and web design. You decide to send them a CD to view your three dimensional pieces with the hope of securing employment there.

Primary tasks:

A. Decide how to present your material on a CD

  • Choose appropriate software.
  • Create a hierarchy of information or storyboard thumbnails

B. Collect all pieces to be included.

C. Create a portfolio.

  • Think creatively.
  • Use appropriate software.
  • Use appropriate transitions.
  • Use appropriate sounds if desired.

D. Submit your portfolio as a movie (projector) to your instructor.

E. Burn your portfolio to a CD.

Objectives:

  • Create an aesthetically pleasing portfolio that will get you the job.
  • Use appropriate software and save it correctly to the appropriate platforms so the employer will be able to view it without any problems.
  • Submit portfolio in a professional manner and on time to be considered for employment.

Grading Criteria:

The final project will be assessed on:

1. Self and instructor assessments

  • The student was able to identify weaknesses
  • The student identified steps for improvement

2. The quality of the solution and execution

  • The student completed the assigned competency listing
  • The student presented a professionally designed piece on or before the stated deadline
