Course Description:
In this course Graphic Design and Web Design students will study areas such as:

  • self-awareness and assessment
  • career awareness and exploration
  • career decision making
  • career planning and placement
  • success factors
  • attitudes on the job
  • motivation and initiative
  • human behavior and relations
  • employability skills and interviewing

Prerequisite: Permission of instructor / coordinator

Concurrent Enrollment:
GRDSN 267 Cooperative Education Work Experience (1-18cr)

Required Text: Student must purchase the "Student Handbook for Co-op Field Experience 267" located in the SFCC bookstore.

  • Students are to determine appropriate dress code for work environment:
    Business Casual
    : Men | Women

  • Students are required to develop a cover letter and resume

  • Students are required to develop and give an oral presentation reflecting the internship experience


Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to structure your field experience. Through assignments in the student handbook you will:

1. Complete a learning agreement with the college and an employer in a situation where the employer/training site and the college cooperate in advancing your education.

2. Establish learning objectives in areas that pertain to your major course of study and in areas that correspond to your particular career interest.

3. Be evaluated by your employer / supervisor and by your faculty instructor-coordinator.

Grading Policy:
If you have completed the criteria and competency listing on any given project you will receive a 3.0. If you do not meet these industry standards you will receive an “I” for incomplete.
Any incomplete projects need to be completed within 5 lab days after the final project is due to receive a grade. Projects completed after the 5 lab days will receive a 0.0 and will be averaged into the overall grade for the course. All projects need to be completed otherwise student receives a 0.0 for the course.


To obtain a 4.0 you must exceed expectations in either work ethic, artistic ability, production skills, writing skills, computer skills, people skills or idea development.

Attendance Policy: This course meets once a week. More then 2 absences = 0.0 grade.
