Required Text:

Student must purchase the "Student Handbook for Co-op Field Experience 267" located in the SFCC bookstore.

Course Description:

In this course Graphic Design and Web Design students will study areas such as self-awareness and assessment, career awareness and exploration, career decision making, career planning and placement, success factors, attitudes on the job, motivation and initiative, human behavior and relations, employability skills and interviewing. (Interviewing Video available for checkout at library: Inside Secrets of Interviewing)

  • Students are required to develop and give an oral presentation reflecting the internship experience

Course Objectives:

The purpose of this course is to structure your field experience. Through assignments in the student handbook you will be doing the following:

1. Complete a learning agreement with the college and an employer in a situation where the employer/training site and the college cooperate in advancing your education.

2. Establish learning objectives in areas that pertain to your major course of study and in areas that correspond to your particular career interest.

3. Be evaluated by your employer / supervisor and by your faculty instructor-coordinator.

Grading / Attendance Policy:

If you have completed the criteria and competency listing on any given project you will receive a 3.0. If you do not meet these industry standards you will receive an “I” for incomplete. Any incomplete projects need to be completed within 5 lab days after the final due date. To receive a passing grade. To move toward a 4.0 you must exceed expectations in either work ethic, artistic ability, production skills, writing skills, computer skills, people skills or idea development.

Attendance is crucial to your progress and will be taken at the beginning of every class. The attendance policy is as follows:

More than 2 absences = 0.0 grade point

Cell phones must be turned off in the classroom.
