Scenario: You are a student working on
becoming a graphic designer. A local company is looking for an intern.
They would like to see samples of your work before scheduling a
personal meeting.
You will need to...
a) gather your past projects,
b) determine which projects to link / upload,
c) determine which digital formats work best (.gif,
.jpg. pdf)
d) research costs in developing a personal website:
ISP
Hosting service

e) use an html editor to develop an interface design
and
f) upload the final portfolio to a server for review.
Along with the portfolio examples you will need
to:
a) state your work objective,
b) past work experience and
c) technical skills.
The process you will use includes research, idea exploration,
and concept development. Using the techniques for creative thinking, you
will show thumbnails to your instructor.
The instructor will then choose 3 concepts to develop
into 3 tight roughs. Once the roughs have been developed, the instructor
will then sign off on the 3 roughs for you to show to "projects
course instructor". In order to gain a better understanding
of the design approach, each rough should be hand drawn and developed
using xerox copies of the browser window.
Each rough should include the following: A splash
page and two other navigation areas of your choice. In order to make
sure that the job is scheduled appropriately, functions well and
all electronic files are configured correctly you will be in close
contact with the internet service provider.
The final digital files will need to be uploaded
to a server for review.
Schedule a meeting with the technology instructor,
who will be your production manager for this project.
Determine prerequisite skills necessary to

form.
Verify that your work meets thumbnail criteria.
Submit thumbnails to the art director for
sign off / approval.
Step 6: Develop rough layouts.
Develop roughs from thumbnails which were
approved by the art director.
Rough layouts will be to size of the final
package design and communicate more detail than the thumbnails.
Verify that your work meets roughs criteria.
Submit roughs to the art director for sign

Step 7: Submit rough layouts to the client.
After the art director approves your roughs,

Make backup copies of all files after each
work session.
Print a black and white laser proof within
a browser window and check for correctness and accuracy.
Have "PEER REVIEW / CRITIQUE" of
your grayscale digital comps.Make appropriate revisions.
Copy all final documents to the server folder(s)
specified by the client and production manager.
