Macintosh OS X, Snow Leopard Project 8:

What you will learn in this project

Lesson 16

Lesson 17

Lurking out of sight, but as close as the Dashboard on the Dock are the Widgets. Widgets are tools to add small functions to your computing experience. Skim over lesson 16 and try out some ot the basic Widgets and use the Widget Manager to install or remove them from your Dashboard.

At home, in the office, or on the move, you will need to connect to printers. In the labs our printers are set up and locked down tight; you can’t alter them, so we will touch on the theory of printer setup and rely on the quizzes. Skim over the topics in lesson 17 and answer the quiz questions.

Exercises

Customize your Widget collection. When you click on the "plus" button in the lower left of the Dashboard you will get a look at all the local widgets available on your machine. Let's go to the next level of Widget wrangling. Click on the Widget Manager and then the " More Widgets" link. You will soon see the Apple widget web page. Pick out a Widget that looks interesting and download it and install it. (It will land in your Downloads folder, and double-clicking on the .zip and the Widget file will get it installed.)

Add two Widgets to your woriking Widget set and take a screen shot of the page.

What to Turn In

You will store your files into a folder you create named 162-8-MyName.

Create a compressed, ZIP, archive of your folder. In Finder, select File>Compress"filename". Attach this archive to your Angel turn-in for this project.
